2. Provide Hibernate with information about the classes to be persisted. Persistent class configuration allows you to bridge gaps between the class and databases.
Hibernate works itself that opens connection to database, converts HQL (Hibernate Query Language) statements to database specific statement, receives result set, then performs mapping of these database specific data to Java objects which are directly used by Java application.
Hibernate is driven by XML configuration files to configure data connectivity and map classes to database tables with which it needs to interact. These XML files contain database connection specifics, connection pooling details, transaction factory settings, as well as references to other XML files that describe tables in the database.
Hibernate provides persistence as a service, rather than as a framework. It integrates flawlessly with various application architectures.
